By the River with Sara & Max

Inspired by Sara and Max’s own exploration into the power of water in their own work in the past few years (Sara is a dancer, Max a musician), we decided to capture their session alongside the Missouri River, with Kansas City (Max’s hometown) in the background.

The wind whispered in our hair, the sun kissed our cheeks, the water rippled and moved swiftly.

It was a perfect evening.

Part of being a good photographer, whether for a wedding or a family session, is being able to embrace the moments as they unfold. It’s important to have a vision, but it also should be coupled with a listening ear; the ability to engage with your subjects, hear how they’re feeling, and go with the flow, creating art together along the way.
